We are looking for an experienced sales manager to lead our growing team of auction specialists and agents. This is a full time employed position responsible for developing and maintaining a successful sales department, focused primarily on creating new real estate auction business through prospecting and lead generation activity. Key components include building a departmental sales plan, recruiting and onboarding new agents, managing and motivating sales staff, and leading by example through personal business development.
The ideal candidate is an experienced sales manager with a keen business mind, strategic leadership skills, and exceptional written and oral communication abilities. Compensation is based on sales management experience and is a combination of base plus commission on team production.

There are a lot of moving parts to managing a full schedule of real estate auctions. This full time employed position handles a myriad of duties throughout the auction life cycle. Primary responsibilities include coordinating logistical tasks including signage, property maintenance, photography, written reports, and auction day operations. Responsibilities also include the ongoing maintenance of company equipment, vehicles and supplies as well as recruiting and overseeing contract workers to assist with overflow of duties during periods of heavy volume.
Skills required include organization/planning and problem solving, as well as comfort with technology. Candidates must be able to work independently in sometimes physically demanding conditions.

OTHER POSITIONS COMING OPEN SOON:
- BUYER’S AGENT. Only one bidder wins the auction and we want to able to offer assistance to other bidders who will still be looking for a property after the auction is offer. Requires active real estate license in MO and KS, and demonstrated success in a buyer’s agent role.
- AUCTION SPECIALIST/AGENT. There are many more real estate sellers who would choose the auction method if they knew about it and understood it. We need sales-minded individuals to find those sellers and properties! A detailed description of sales careers at Cates can be found here.
- DIGITAL/SOCIAL MARKETING COORDINATOR. No matter how great the auction staff, it won’t be a good auction if the buyers don’t know about it! We will be hiring a part-time expert in digital and social marketing to be certain both buyers and sellers continue to find Cates Auction at just the right times.
- CREW. We depend heavily on our outstanding part-time crew to help with a variety of auction-related needs in the field. We will soon be needing additional people to assist with the production of our online personal property auctions, including property cleanouts, cataloging of items, and hosting pick-ups for winning bidders.
