Wornall Park Condominiums 

In Kansas City’s burgeoning luxury condo market, the Wornall Park Condominiums stand apart.  A melding of the Arts and Crafts architectural style and the Prairie style made famous by Frank Lloyd Wright, Wornall Park is a new three-story building housing just 10 residences. The two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominiums are nestled on the north edge of the Country Club Plaza at 45th Street and Wornall Road.   Elevators take residents up from the secure underground parking to their homes. On the main level is an airlock entry into a beautiful atrium lobby fronted by a striking wall of glass. The front door is a crafted wrought iron design, a concept drawn from the work of Louis Sullivan, the Chicago architect who worked with Wright. Outside is an entrance portico beneath a copper hood. Among the Craftsman touches are the interior and pocket doors — real oak and seven feet tall, Sexton notes. Each entryway has an eight-foot solid oak exterior door. Indoor parking is available underground. One parking space comes with each unit and additional spaces are available for an additional charge. The building will have an elevator and indoor common area. Homeowner’s association dues cover building insurance, trash removal, grounds maintenance, landscaping, window washing, pest control and professional on-site management.  

Sexton’s devotion to the highest standards of quality is evident through the myriad interior details. Numerous windows allow for the filtration of natural light throughout each unit, illuminating the warmth of the wood trim and floors. Ten foot ceilings create a spacious, open feel. Marble kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities add polish to the interior, and heated river rock walk-in showers are a sheer delight on cold winter days. The use of wood is an important element that pays homage to the Craftsman style of architecture. Seven-foot oak interior and pocket doors are included in each unit, as are custom wooden cabinets built by the Amish community in Jamesport, Missouri. Simply elegant might be another way to describe the design effects found throughout Wornall Park Condominiums.
