The Story of 11 W. 5th St., Parkville, Missouri
In the 1890’s the location of this property bordered by Fourth Street on the south and Fifth Street on the north was known as “Uncle Tommy Davis property”. In May of 1902 construction began on this new building and it would contain 10 rooms, with bath and other modern improvements. When finished it would be a private boarding house for students and faculty of Park College and would be known as the “Douglas Hall” boarding house. There was no mention of the date it was finished except for a note in the Park College Record describing the enrollment for the coming school year. “A number of students able to pay their expenses in money can be accommodated in a new rooming house now being erected in the village. This boarding house does not belong to the college, but will be run by competent people under regulations approved by the faculty.” (Record, July, 1904)
